NBU began in a small litte gym in a park district on the west side of Chicago. Coach Snider was just a father trying to help his children learn the fundamentals of basketball so that they could excel both on and off the court. Almost eight years later, he has a daughter who used basketball to go to and graduate from Pepperdine University, and just recently his son is about to the same. Gabriel Snider signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago on a basketball scholarship. 

Gabriel signed his letter of intent alongside his current Whitney Young teammates, Jordan Smith and Nate Brooks, who are both going to the illustrious University of Chicago on the southside. Omari Whitmore, who signed on a golf scholarship, will be attending Flordia A & M University. 

These boys have a lot in common: above average gpa's, high ACT scores, great work ethic, and the same coach and mentor; Coach Kevin Snider. When speaking to the guests after signing their letters of intent, they all had nothing but great words to share about how much of an impact that Coach Snider has in their lives. He has helped them to acheive their goals by demanding nothing but the best from them. He has assisted in the journey of reaching their potntial, and the boys feel more than prepared to conquer the next phase of their lives. 

Coach Snider prides his life's work on bringing out the best in young people, and teaching them  life lessons through sport. He is very skilled on the fundamentals of basketball and finds a way that is best for every individual to learn. Coach Snider realized that these same qualites can be applied when coaching other sports as long as you teach, go back to the basics, and find the best in every player. 

Coach has been a support system to so many students and athletes, guiding them on their path to whatever they want to do. Snider, Smith, Brooks, and Whitmore are beginning a new chapter in their lives. They are the beginning of the first generation of athletes. By exceling in the fundamentals of basketball and learning even more in the classroom, they have seen what amazing results are in store.
